FAQ
Straight answers before you start practicing.
These answers focus on the product and the practice experience. They are not legal advice and do not replace official USCIS instructions.
Is CitizenMate an official USCIS service?
No. CitizenMate is an independent practice tool. Use it to prepare, but always rely on USCIS notices and official instructions for your case.
What part of the interview can I practice?
The app focuses on civics interview practice, spoken-answer confidence, question review, and session feedback. English reading and writing practice can also fit into the broader trainer flow.
Do I need to speak out loud?
Voice practice is useful because the real interview is spoken, but typed fallback is available when you cannot use a microphone.
Does the app store my audio?
Voice input is sent for transcription during practice. CitizenMate stores the transcript and practice result, not a permanent reusable copy of the uploaded audio file.
Will this guarantee I pass?
No practice tool can guarantee an interview outcome. The goal is to help you identify weak topics, practice the format, and build confidence before the real appointment.
Can I use it on a phone?
The interface is designed for mobile practice. Voice features depend on browser and microphone support, so a quiet environment and a current browser work best.
What happens when my answer is close but not exact?
The grading flow checks accepted civics concepts and can review borderline answers. The summary helps you see what was accepted, what was missed, and what to study next.
Is pricing available yet?
A draft credit-based pricing page is available now. Final Stripe products and checkout behavior may still change before launch.
